LONG, Catherine E. "Cathy" (Aylward). In Dorchester, died peacefully June 2, 2021.

Loving mother of Michael and his wife Deirdre Long of Millis.

Cherished "Grammy" of Taylor Russo, Olivia and Alyssa Long, and Cora and James Long.

Daughter of the late Thomas F. Aylward Sr. and Sarah M. (MacDougall) Aylward.

Dear sister of John and his wife Susan Aylward of Hyde Park, James Aylward and his late wife Elaine Adams of South Boston, Christopher Aylward and his wife Terry Craven of Milton, Jean Ballou and her late husband William, Joan Aylward, and Mary Bellew, all of Dorchester, and the late Thomas and William Aylward.

Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Cathy's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, on Thursday, June 10th, from 4-8 P.M.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, on Friday morning, June 11th, at 10 A.M.

Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Cathy was a graduate of Girl's High School, Class of 1961, and a retired legal secretary for the Commonwealth of Mass. for 19 years. She especially enjoyed bowling and her many long walks around her neighborhood.

Cathy's family would like to thank Paula McMahon for all of the love and support she gave to Cathy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathy's memory may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association at

Hi I was the family next door.My family loved all of you and I can’t say enough words can’t say but I can say we all grew together and too each of us we share the same thing it was each other and Cathy was loved so much by my mom and she was always there for us just like a big sister.The world is a better place with Cathy In it she her presence sweet.Peace be with her and her family.

Cathy was so welcoming to me when I joined the Aylward family years ago. Her friendship and kindness to me as her sister in law is something I will continue to cherish.
