To the Madden Family;

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Miss Madden affected many lives, whether she taught them or simply by her caring presence. Her infectious smile would light the halls of BC High and the lives of its students.

As in the movie a Wonderful Life, I would not have wanted to see the world with Miss Madden's impact. Likewise as in the movie a bell would ring when an angel got their wings -- the bell were ringing in heaven for Miss Madden.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ms. Madden was my freshman year Algebra teacher at BC High. I was not a great math student. I had always struggled with math in general and it was no different in her class.

However, Ms. Madden was so patient, caring, and persistent. She never gave up on me or any of my classmates. She pushed us while still caring for us like we were her sons.

It's funny, what I remember the most was how I once went on a trip

I am so sorry for your family's. loss. I first met Mary when my oldest son applied for admission to BCHigh. he has since graduated and my youngest son will graduate next year. I became a teacher in the Eagles Nest Daycare at BCHigh in 2010 and Mary was always smiling and talking to the children and staff members. She comforted me when my oldest daughter passed away in 2011. She was truly a wonderful lady.

In the short time I knew Mary at Compass on the Bay it was easy to tell what a great person she was. She would always talk about her wonderful career of being a teacher and all the wonderful students she had. She always had a smile on her face and saw the good in everyone. Her presence will be missed dearly. We love you Mary.

Ms Madden was extremely supportive of me while I struggled during my first two years at BC High and especially when taking math courses. The transition to BC High was one of the most difficult in my life and I poured hours into finding a way through. Ms. Madden never let up - challenging me to do my best. However she always made time to meet with me and was extremely encouraging and taught me without judgement. It was always

I first knew her as an amazing teacher, dedicated to her students and BC High. That, I learned, was who she was: someone who cared about others and the world. Feeling blessed to have been taught by such a great teacher and great woman.
